Survival/adaptive mechanisms of microalgae
Microalgae exist in diverse places on this planet. Even in harsh environments, colonies of various microalgae are found. We are interested in how they can survive in such an environment. To this, we use transcriptome analysis to investigate their gene expression comprehensively. Also, selected genes would be studied on the protein level through heterologous expression in Escherichia coli and purification of recombinant proteins. This study can help us understand the unique survival mechanisms and suggest new methods for industrial applications of microalgae.
