The APBL invited Dr. Kenneth Neil Mertens (IFREMER, France) and Dr. Gu Haifeng (Third Institute of Oceanography, China) to hold a seminar. Dr. Mertens and Dr. Gu presented ‘Harmful algal blooms in French waters’ and ‘Early warning of Noctiluca scintillans (Dinophyceae) blooms in the northern Taiwan Strait’ respectively. After their presentations, we discussed ideas for future collaborative research. We had a wonderful time, eating duck dishes.

Minjae gave a seminar to Professor Taeho Lee and LEME members at Pusan National University (Busan, Korea). The topic was ‘Research on industrial applications of microalgae through the combination of OMICs and metabolic engineering’. After the seminar, we had a meal together and built a common ground for collaboration.
